IMPLEMENTASI PENDIDIKAN MULTIKULTURAL DALAM MEMBANGUN TOLERANSI ANTARUMAT BERAGAMA DI SDN SUKOWONO 1

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of multicultural education in fostering religious tolerance among students at Sukowono 1 Elementary School. The background of this study is based on the importance of instilling the values of tolerance in an educational environment where students come from diverse religious backgrounds. Sukowono 1 Elementary School is one of the schools where Muslim and Christian students study together, making it a concrete example of the implementation of multicultural values in school life. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students. The findings indicate that the implementation of multicultural education at Sukowono 1 Elementary School is carried out through the cultivation of mutual respect, providing equal opportunities for all students, fostering harmonious social interactions without discrimination, and respecting the implementation of religious education according to each student's beliefs. The tolerance developed is reflected in the positive relationships between Muslim and Christian students in both learning activities and social interactions at school. Therefore, multicultural education plays a significant role in creating an inclusive, harmonious school environment that respects religious diversity.
